after a year-long blogging hiatus, rocoi is (so) back!

we hope you had a great 2014! Frogkissw1a

Merry Christmas 2014.1

our family had a good one, and will write about our year’s highlights soon. woo!!!

thanks for checking in on my blog even though i have been MIA for loooooong time. i kinda got busy (excuses, excuses!), but i am back and that’s more important, right??

first up: kirstenbakes! yes!

launched in july 2013, i started accepting cake, cupcake and cake pops orders from strangers (turned friends!). yep, into the baking world i leapt! and until now i couldn’t believe how much i had to bake last year heehee with ads in olx and facebook, i had constant inquiries and even had to turn some down as i am a working girl and can’t survive on less than 5 hours of sleep! yes, i’ve had (a lot of) work-bake-bake-bake-bake-shower-work days!! but i’m not complaining, as a home baker i bake with l-o-v-e. and quality over quantity (i use real butter, real vanilla extract, real eggs, all the good stuff!). heart-2

i will be posting some of my works soon. for those who might be curious, i will start accepting baking orders from 12 jan as i am currently yaya-less. shy

again, welcome back to me! laughbounce

new year’s resolutions 2013

*image from google

oh yes, been there, done that. i have religiously made my list every since i was in college. everyone else does, right? 🙂

but this should be number 1 on anybody’s lists: FOLLOW MY NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS. 😀

why? studies show that 88% of us fail in keeping to this list. why? because too often than not, we set up ourselves to failure. we set the bar too high up that our goals become overwhelming. we need to keep it small and specific (writing down i want to be rich isn’t exactly the way to go), and as we gain momentum goal after goal, we learn to aim higher. remember that facebook dude? he only aimed to build a social network for his school; now it’s a multi-billion dollar empire.

let me share what i wrote for 2008 (the rest i couldn’t find anymore), way back when i was still studying for my MBA:

1. get fit! (go boxing, aero, gym)

2. eat healthy! (limit carbs, maintain low fat meals, juice in the mornings)

3. go to mass regularly (the earlier the better!)

4. study harder!

5. work harder!

6. go home on time (wag ka magpaka-martyr masyado!)

7. limit internet-surfing during work hours

8. save!  (don’t spend unnecessarily!)

9. travel more

10. bake!

well, i’m glad to report that i was able to practice 70% of these items (i need to go to mass more regularly!) until today.  and if i were to write down my list for 2013, this would be it:

1. read more! i usually read ebooks but they put a strain on my eyes. should borrow books from the library more!

2. save a whole lot more for miss k (i checked for toddler schools in our area and they charge 60k a year!)

3. live healthier (go to the gym regularly instead of sporadically – 5x this week then none the next haha!, learn to play squash, eat my veggies)

4. limit internet-surfing during work hours (yes, but blog more heehee)

5. live a no impact lifestyle (i learned a lot from this at work! reduce, reuse and recycle, people!)

what are your new year resolutions? 🙂

thank you, 2012! part 1

what a wonderful year you were! and as we await what 2013 has in store for us, let us look back on what transpired during the year of the dragon:

we welcomed 2012 at the oakwood premiere with my in-laws. away from the smoke, noise, and my fear of stray bullets.

DSCN4873 DSCN4874 DSCN4898 DSCN5044

when i got back to work, our team started the year with  lunch at uncle cheffy in wynsum, ortigas.

we celebrated kirsten’s 5th month with an angry birds themed dinner at home. 🙂

DSCN5230 DSCN5222

mi amigas also met up for a new year lunch at burgoo, podium.

kirsten went to the office clinic for her first vaccination for the year (she ain’t so happy about it here heehee).

met up with k’s friends and met our godsons. yep, in this circle, kirsten is the first girl (wanted to say ONLY girl but m, the pretty mama in stripes gave birth to baby ianna last 12 dec). 🙂

ate j celebrated her 11th birthday at this cozy resto which name escapes me at the moment.

our favorite ex-boss came to visit (as he always does whenever he’s in town).

off we went to ayala triangle for an early walk. this was our first time there, and we would like to bring her to places like this (wide, open spaces) more often. 🙂

DSCN5555 DSCN5539 DSCN5514r and  j came to visit. unfortunately, r lost his necklace to a hamog teen who snatched it while he was walking along edsa on his way to my office. that batang hamog then ran across edsa amidst the oncoming cars. 😦

DSCN5702 DSCN5686

kirsten’s first mcdonald’s party (at el pueblo, ortigas). we met kyle, son of my officemate m who is my close friend c’s sister-in-law. we also met ronald mcdonald, grimace, hamburglar and birdie (hidden). i’m so glad kirsten is not afraid of mascots.

2 3 1 DSCN5746 DSCN5778 DSCN5802

then d turned 1 with a fabulous mickey mouse clubhouse party at valle verde 6. the gang’s all here! 🙂 k and i wore our matching shirts from HK disneyland while kirsten wore a mickey jumpsuit. 🙂

DSCN5813 DSCN5829 DSCN5953

k sent me cuerva’s mango torte at work for valentine’s day. suh-weet! 🙂

we celebrated kirsten’s 6th month at home. she’s growing too fast!

and for my dad-in-law’s birthday, we spent the weekend at canyon woods in tagaytay (kirsten’s first trip there!).

where kirsten started on her solids with cerelac’s wheat and milk. yum-o! 🙂

DSCN6183 DSCN6196

and she met some ducks, too! 🙂

we also took her to her first trip to bonifacio global city where we had lunch at conti’s and dessert at cupcake by soja.

DSCN6461 DSCN6491

we also celebrated kuya x’s 2nd birthdayat the linden suites, ortigas where we ate the biggest pizza we’ve ever seen. 🙂

DSCN7062 DSCN7080

this photo is too cute for words! i was afraid to bring her to the bathroom for her baths so i just line the bedroom floor with lots of newspapers and bring the bath tub there. 😀

we also read to her everyday, and here i caught her “reading.” 🙂

DSCN7240 DSCN7241

miss k’s first visit to daddy k’s favorite bookstore. 🙂

we have been co-sleeping since she was 2 months old. here we set up the crib beside our bed as i tried to let her sleep here but no success. she was restless, and i couldn’t bear having her apart. we’re still co-sleeping until this day. 🙂

i got to catch a babywearing event at the renaissance tower in ortigas during the end part of march.

DSCN7552 DSCN7572

and the chicas celebrated sm’s birthday dinner at cafe juanita, our ultimate comfort food heaven! here we were about to devour the famous sticky toffee pudding. 😛

we spent the holy week in manila and did a visita iglesia  to about 7 churches around the metro.  the one in the photo is mary the queen parish in greenhills, where we we wed in 2009.

this is when miss k started her sabit habit. 😀

then easter was spent at the discovery suites in ortigas with miss k starring as our easter bunny. 😉

DSCN7818 DSCN7836

i also started ordering lactation goodies from paola of mommy treats to supplement my breastfeeding. we were mixed feeding then.

i enrolled myself in a baking class at ingrid’s sweet haven patisserie and baking supplies in pasig city which i truly enjoyed. my classmates were very enthusiastic, the class was hands-on, and chef ingrid was very generous with her tips and tricks. this class was for basic cakes and icings, and we went home with a diploma and huge portions of our creations for take home. these were chocolate cake, mocha cake, and lemon butter. yum-o! 🙂

DSCN7921 DSCN7924 DSCN7988

DSCN8295 DSCN8296 DSCN8305

we went up to tagaytay again to escape the manila heat and planned to stay at hotel kimberley but when we realized there was not much to do there and the place is pretty secluded inside a residential area, we headed out and stayed at the summit ridge hotel where there was a supermarket, lots of eating options and starbucks on the ground floor. 😀 during this trip, kirsten had her first dip in the pool (it was chilly so we decided against a swim).

DSCN8432 DSCN8670 DSCN8669 DSCN8754

miss k decided to get into daddy k’s  maleta as he was almost alsways out every weekend for work. wawa effect heehee

then it was another baking class for me, this time cupcakes, muffins and cookies. i got to take home lots of red velvet and vanilla cupcakes, double chocolate muffins and brownie chunk cookies.

DSCN8922 DSCN8948 DSCN8950

ninong c and tita v finally met kirsten when we went to their condo unit. they were so taken with her! ninong c offered her whiskey but she refused hahaha!

kirsten’s first jollibee party was micah’s advance birthday celebration in jollibee greenmeadows. she kept looking at jollibee and wanted to touch him haha! tapang! 🙂

DSCN9334 DSCN9356 DSCN9369

and our much awaited trip to palawan finally came! 🙂 we were able to tour palawan courtesy of k’s uncle g who was our ninong. miss k rode a boat for the first time here, going to isla pandan. we had her stay behind when we went to the underground river though. the boats they use there were too tiny! 😛
