miss k’s graduation from summer school

after a month of going to “school” from 9am to 10:30 am everyday, it was finally time to graduate and reap the fruits of her labor. πŸ™‚

here we were, mighty proud and happy that she finished the program without a single complaint.

this little girl went to her classes, participated in the activities, learned different songs and dances, and greatly improved her social skills.

kahit na iisa lang ang classmate nya. πŸ˜€

she got a lot of ribbons from teacher jessa,

so daddy k and i took turns

in pinning them to her dress.

she allowed us to pin just half of the ribbons though, matatakpan daw kasi yung damit nya if we pin all 6. πŸ˜›

the parents were asked to say a few words to their graduating child, but daddy k’s short speech focused more on thanking the teacher/s for their passion in teaching 2 active and, most of the time easily distracted toddlers. teacher was very touched by the message. πŸ™‚

miss k was most friendly, most thoughtful, most kind, most caring, most persevering, and most behaved. πŸ™‚ her teacher praised her for participating in the activities despite being the youngest in class, and for always helping out to pack away after each class.

we had a merienda after this graduation, and my contribution were oreo cupcakes. i couldn’t take a photo with all the cupcakes as students from the other classes already took some as soon as i set up the tower. πŸ™‚

they also had a mini-swimming party after at the back of the school, which both toddlers really enjoyed. they’re so cute! ate kyra, her other classmate, is 3 years old. πŸ™‚Β DSCN2238v1

we enrolled k in this class so she has other things to do beside staying at home all the time. and so she can socialize with other people besides us. and we were extremely happy with the end results! Β see below things that she learned from this program:

– she knows action songs to these songs:
if you’re happy and you know it
smile and say hello everywhere you go/spread a little sunshine, spread a little joy/to every man and woman, to every girl and boy
little sunny water
eency weency spider
– she can hold a pencil/pen better, with improved control
– she greets everyone hi, hello, bye bye, says thank you (kuu!), sorry (soyeee!), please (peeesss!), good morning (maaning!)
– she is always willing to help and pack away toys, etc.

we’re so proud of you, our dear little k! can’t wait to find another suitable class for you to try soon. πŸ™‚

travel kwento: our trip to tagaytay

over the labor day holiday, we went up to tagaytay with friends and their families to bond and take the kids to the different sights there.

we rented out a spacious four bedroom house (owned by my colleague/friend at work).

it had a wide open space in front where the kids ran around.

the kiddos. yes, miss k is the only girl in the group. lahat yan bodyguards nya. πŸ™‚

our little girl can’t help herself from exploring all the space in the house. the rooms, kitchen, the spacious living room, the stairs (especially! she likes going up and down and up and down and up and down…), and even the basement where the caretaker’s family lives. we had to distract her all the time or else!

we were 3 families in all.

on the first day, we all went to taal vista hotel..

DSCN1648 DSCN1656Β DSCN1666v1

.. then to sky ranch where there is an amusement park called sky fun and where the sky eye, the tallest ferris wheel in the country, is located. there were a limited number of toddler-friendly rides, like this train…

DSCN1685 DSCN1689

DSCN1695 DSCN1696

and the giant carousel. of course! our little one is nuts about riding carousels! πŸ™‚

four brave adults (me, daddy k, ninong i and ninang p) tried the super viking, an achors-away kind of ride. this is our view from that ride.

the camera was with me but i wasn’t able to take more photos after we were up in the air. i should have taken a photo of the mountains and the whole sky ranch complex, but had to hold on to the bars since that thing was rocking us higher and higher at almost a 90 degree angle. ninong i couldn’t handle it but was too shy to get off in the middle of the ride teehee πŸ™‚

the next day, we went to the residence zoo where miss k saw a camel, owls, birds, monkeys, an iguana, fishes, snakes, turtles, etc.

she missed some animals, like the tigers and lions as she was still sleeping when we arrived.

DSCN1786Β DSCN1831

we tried the bird feeding activity and she loved it! the birds settled on her arm and head heehee and until now, she can still remember the boidsΒ eating on the hand (she gestures her open palm and says iiit! iiit!), and she points at her arm and head as well. we fed the birds twice!

we had a wonderful time with friends, and vowed to do this again soon! πŸ™‚

what’s up?? :)

been busy with the organization’s yearly meeting and some other stuff, hence the lack of posts.

here’s a quick list of what’s been happening in the last 2 weeks or so:

1. i attended eton international’s symposium on international primary curriculum at the edsa shangri-la. it was an eye opener on how the way of learning has advanced. i want the best school for miss k, one which will bring out the very best in her. πŸ™‚

2. we tried granny burgers and it was yummy! i had the double angus, daddy k had the triple patty burger! πŸ™‚

3. miss k’s summer playtime school activities have been fun, fun, fun! aside from coloring, painting, tracing and sticking activities, singing songs and dancing, they have cooked cheese lumpia, pancakes, and pizza! πŸ™‚

4. i attended an intermediate fondant class where i expected to mold 3d characters. alas, we spent most of our time preparing the fondant and covering the styro mock cake that i only got to mold 2 characters from pocoyo, pato and sleepy bird! sigh! i was so disappointed. 😦 mas happy ako dun sa basic fondant class where i got to mold a lot. oh well, i want to take up the class again haha! super enjoyable kasi!

11. daddy k and i had an impromptu dinner date at chef laudico’s guevarra’s last weekend.Β dapat kasama si miss k, e nakatulog ayaw pagising hehe this resto was full! parang chinese resto, lots of chinese families were there celebrating birthdays (daming cakes e, and panay ang kanta ng crew ng happy birthday hehe). πŸ™‚ food was OK lang, one stood out for me: angus kare-kare. melt in your mouth goodness!

so, in the words of THE joey tribbiani, how you doin’? πŸ™‚

my take on the cookie butter craze

i have read about it and heard people talk about it. and just like ihop, i wanted all that hype to die down first.

we haven’t been to ihop (soon, maybe!), but i saw jars upon jars of this cookie butter (crunchy and regular flavors) in our coop store one late afternoon.

i bought the crunchy version and wanted to try it ASAP. well, i got to try it the next day. πŸ™‚

a half spoonful. that’s all i had. it tasted like ground graham crackers, with nutmeg. hmmmm. it was good. but nothing extraordinary for me.

daddy k tried it too. andΒ this was like 2 weeks ago. we haven’t opened the bottle since.

which reminds me that i should.Β sayang naman. angΒ mahal mahal e,Β php450. πŸ™‚

P.S. i bought 4 more bottles for my sister (1 crunchy, 1 regular) and 2 bestfriends (1 crunchy version each) in the province. they loved it. πŸ™‚
