i want to bring miss k here! hope daddy k will let me drive. 🙂
we have brought miss k to kindermusik and gymboree classes, and we even tried musikgarten – yes, we are looking for activities for her every chance we get! you see, we are a small household living in a commercial area and we know the need to expose her to different activities (aside from playing at home, watching television or listening to her favorite music).
this time, we had 5 sit-in sessions at golden values school‘s summer playtime class for toddlers to test if miss k will like it. it was a (very) small class of 3 (so far), with a teacher who starts the day by singing lupang hinirang and reciting a prayer. then they do their morning exercises (they dance around). after that, they sing nursery rhymes, count and identify the alphabet through several visual aids. then they do 1-2 main activities (they have done decorating a sheep drawing with popcorn, stick paper eggs and apples on a basket drawing, make a frame of a family photo using popsicle sticks, trace letters, etc.) before (snack) merienda time, and eventually play time. at the end of every class, they get paper stars on popsicle sticks as reward (which k loves! she has more than 10 at home and she loves holding on to them and says STAAAA!). all that in 1 and a half hours! 🙂
well, we are happy to report that kirsten liked being in the class! in the beginning, she wanted to be held or we had to sit next to her. and she cries when me or daddy k leaves the room. after a few classes, she waves us goodbye already! 😀
i hope she likes taking the classes until it ends mid-may. but so far, so good. she participates well by pointing out correct pictures to her teacher, helps clean up/pack away after play time, sticks the paper/popcorn things to the glue, and joins the dances/claps her hands when asked! 🙂
by the way, her classmates are both 3 years old, and their names start with K as well!
we are so proud of you, little k! we hope that you will love learning from your teacher and classmates! 🙂
with miss k in tow, i checked out expo mom year 6 at the rockwell tent one fine satruday morning. we got there a little past 10:00 am and there were already a lot of people crowding around the registration booth. you could already tell that it’s a great event for moms as whole families came in droves, with babies and toddlers and kids tagging along! 🙂
i loved the ceiling swag at the venue, so colorful!
the theme for this year was MOMTUITION, aka a mother’s superpower. instinct. common sense.
first 100 registrants received a cupcake from cupcakes by sonja. miss k ate the cupcake, i ate the frosting. 🙂
there was also a face painting and glitter station near the exit, and miss k got a butterfly. she loved it and wouldn’t let me wash it off when we got home! 🙂
we got invited by this booth to try out their online learning system, cackleberries. i think kirsten is still too small to do this but may check them out in the next few years. it is really an interactive software featuring games and classes that i’m sure interent-savvy kids will enjoy!
there were lots of booths offering everything from cloth diapers, educational books and toys, shoes, dresses and headbands, arts and crafts, air fresheners, filtered water bottles, theme parks, lactation treats, photo studios, baby-safe toiletries, even tuyo! 🙂
we had out photo op when the program ended at noon. looking forward to next year’s expo mom year 7 event! 🙂
i was one of the lucky 10 ladies who got a slot to this workshop a week ago. after checking out expomom 6 at the rockwell tent, i headed to the shiseido boutique at rockwell powerplant mall.
after a volunteer volunteered (of course!) to be the model for the day, we got down to business.
well, joven the make up artist did. he shared that skin care should be first priority before applying make up. and that’s true! make up essentially highlights or enhances your face, not give you a different face altogether. personally, i’d take it better if someone compliments me that i look better without make up than the other way around. 🙂
the basics: cleanser, softener (or toner to most of us), serum (or moisturizer, i think!). a girl should never skip these three steps every morning and night, kahit anong produkto ang gamit mo. and sunscreen, of course! the SPF-churva on your moisturizer don’t count!
this is the open forum where we get to ask all kinds of questions. joven was easy to talk to and provided blunt answers. he’s very funny that way. 🙂
my photo op with joven, i like the way he handled the class. 🙂
and presenting shiseido’s wide array of products for all skin types.
thanks to rowena for organizing this class for her readers. i learned a lot from joven. as a mommy, i sometimes forget to take care of me. but taking good care of one’s self should be priority as well, so one can take better care of others. 🙂
and because miss k has been obsessing about him for some time now (on tv and the iPad)…
i think we’re having a pocoyo-themed 2nd birthday! 🙂
we recently attended the 365 days of summer event at the grove by rockwell. first impression of the place – expensive haha! daming guards!
after registration, we got our food stub (free) and proceeded to the function room for the different activities.
we did the beads activity first. miss k initially wanted to eat the beads lol! but she got the drift and chose the beads to be threaded for a bracelet or necklace.
tiny hands. adorable! 🙂
see? she’s busy already!
next was a music class by musikgarten. miss k cheerfully joined the group (she was the youngest participant!) and used the props properly –
she listens to teacher on what to do next
she loved the drum (she loved this in kindermusik, too!)
and made eye contact with her classmates
and teacher too! the teacher actually observed that miss k actually listens and does the required actions thereafter. so proud!
she loved ringing the bell, too!
then there was a schleich diorama storytelling session where she sat in front (while eating some piknik chips) and listened to the story.
the venue was nice, with high ceiling.
there were booths all around, including this gelato (?) stand
bert lozada swim school
and famous belgian waffles (for polymer clay activity participants only)
piknik had a stand too. activity booths allowed the kids to draw and color,
make bead bracelets and necklaces,
and create these super cute polymer clay designs. we didn’t join this one since k can just pop those into her mouth mistaking them for food!
the hobbes and landes display.
the food booths were located by the pool on the 5th floor. look at these views.
these payong guys were on stand by in case someone didn’t want to expose himself/herself to the sun (but you’re at an outdoor pool, so you’ll get some sun anyway. weird.)
she gave kirsten her elmo balloon. 🙂
and here is elmo lounging around at home.
looking forward to attending more events at the grove by rockwell! 🙂
